On August 27, through the online modality, the Inter-American Masonic Confederation gave the lecture “DEMOCRACY IN THE AMERICAS”, which had as a speaker Brother Luis Almagro, Secretary General of the OAS – Organization of American States, an institution with which the CMI maintains an agreement in defense of freedoms and democracy.

Both institutions, CMI and OAS, were born in the post-Second World War period, motivated by the feeling of unity and harmony that prevailed in the Americas and the Caribbean. While the CMI was founded in April 1947, the OAS was born a year later, in April 1948.

The proceedings opened with the reading of a message from the President of the CMI, Eulogio Mario Carreras Vásquez, followed by a brief welcoming speech by the Executive Secretary of the CMI, Geraldo Macedo. Then, there was the exposition of Brother Luis Almagro, full of history, principles and meanings, which generated interesting questions that were promptly answered by the speaker.
